One of my favorite questions to ask is, “where did your band name come from?” In the case of Kaiser Chiefs, the group from Leeds, UK, it came from a South African futbol (or soccer) club named Kaizer Chiefs. One of the former Leeds United captains went to play for the Kaizer Chiefs, and just like that, a band name was born. This group, which has been releasing music under this name since the early 2000’s, blends indie-rock, brit-pop, punk, and new wave into a distinct and recognizable sound. Their strength, in my opinion, is knowing how to get a song stuck in your head. Take “People Know How To Love One Another” as an example. This song infiltrates your mind, and sets up camp all day, peeking out from time to time just to remind you that it’s there. Or “Don’t Just Stand There, Do Something”, it might as well occupy the campsite next to the aforementioned track.
