“NoMBe intermingles hip-hop, rock, funk, house, and pop into a simultaneously ponderous and powerful sound of his own” reads the start of how NoMBe’s Spotify profile describes him. They Might’ve Even Loved Me is most definitely the epitome of how NoMBe is marketed. An amalgamation of funky bass lines and pop rock is mellowed out by NoMBe’s silky smooth style. ‘Freak Like Me’ and ‘Wait’ are must listens here and make room for them on your top playlist. Save this album in your back pocket as your next recommendation.
This album has a very interesting influence. According to NPR, “NoMBe says the album is dedicated to all the women in his life that have impacted him. “It’s stories across the board — from my mom, to ex’s, to flings, girlfriends, high school crushes.’” NoMBe identifies as a feminist, tours with an all female band, and was raised by his mother and grandmother. Oh yeah, his mother is Chaka Khan too. You can’t just help but love this guy.
